Attack of the Toys

Once I had my second child I found that an unexplained phenomenon started happening to our toys…they were multiplying and before I knew it they were everywhere. I keep hoping that if I sneak downstairs in the middle of the night I might catch them at it and put an end to this madness
In all seriousness though we are beginning to have a major storage issue with our toys. They are in the front entry closet, both kids closets and stacked on shelving units in our unfinished basement! We have begun to slowly tackle this problem and try to find storage solutions that will work for us and our space. We found that a very good way to store small loose toys (like legos or cars) was a bookshelf style unit with bins that sit on two rods instead of shelves. The kids can see exactly what they are looking for and, better yet, they easily learn how to put the toys away.
Then about a month ago I got tired of the books being stacked on end tables and in corners of the room so I went to Toys R Us and picked up a bookshelf. This was not your average bookshelf though. It does not have wooden shelves but uses a large piece of linen looped over rods to form pockets that the books can slide into. Our 3 year old son has no problem finding the books he wants the first time.
This is as far as our organization has gotten and I am extremely pleased with both our choices so far. Next on the list, plush toy storage! What do you find has worked the best for your toy storage needs? And has anyone found a wonderful way to store their plush and stuffed toys?
