The Fame Of New York City’s Broadway

New York City Broadway plays are very much in demand although musicals seem to enjoy long runs and more popularity. They are a terrific showcase for directors, actors and playwrights.
There is something for everyone, from re-workings of the classics to premieres of new productions. New York City Broadway plays bring both comedy and drama and often result in many Tony Awards. There are currently a variety of productions waiting to open, to wet the appetite. A revival of Pygmalion opens in October 2007 at the American Airlines Theatre. The story, by George Bernard Shaw, was famously presented as a musical in the movie, My Fair Lady.
Harold Pinter offers a fantastic drama for the Cort Theater to keep you on the edge of your seat. It's a production of The Homecoming and is scheduled to run from December 9th 2007 until April 13th 2008. Ian McShane, best known for the HBO series, Deadwood, takes the lead role of Teddy. The story is about a working class family from London and is written and set in the 1960s. Raul Esparz stars in this revived production for New York City Broadway Plays. He has perform in musicals, such as Sondheim as well as the classic production of Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Shakespeare works are also shown on Broadway often. Many of his plays have been produced as New York City Broadway plays with several memorable performances. The Vivian Beaumont Theatre at the Lincoln Center hope to make an impression with Cymbeline, opening on December 2nd 2007 until January 6th 2008. The play is set in Great Britain and Italy and is romantic, tragic and comic in turns. The main characters are played by John Cullum as the King, Phylicia Rashad as the evil Queen, Jonathan Cake as the villain and Martha Plimpton as the King's daughter and heroine of the piece.
